This project was developed by students in Lampton School, London, UK.
They looked at a sequence of images made by some Essex students 10 years before showing people's faces from 1 - 100 years old - one for each year.
The Lampton students were inspired by the film. They asked about the people shown, why they had been chosen, who they were, what was 'their story'. We decided to do our own story of the people in our local area aged from 1 - 100 (No. 1 is aged 1, No 40 aged 40 and so on).
Then we wondered... how might our community be different to others elsewhere in the world - perhaps we could find 100 others places to do he same project... and so a Century of Centuries was born.
Our aim is simple: 100 schools from all over the world comparing 100 people aged 1 - 100!
So, if you are reading this, we hope you have been inspired too! If you want to take part this is what happens...
1) Email us! (we want to help and be able to have discussions with the other pupils doing the project about their communities and their discoveries!). Strict privacy will be observed, your email identities will not be passed on.
2) Read the "standard" questions we developed. We ask that each school uses the same questions too, please (you could ask other things as well, of course). We are hoping that through these questions, you will discover more about your own communities, and each other's.
3) We'll set you up with an account for your school, on the http://century.heppell.org website, and from this point on, you need to get finding and asking!
We'll be here to help with any problems, discuss any discoveries (and hopefully even more!) all the way through! We look forward to having you on board!
